     How we choose to use what we know affects our ability to know.

       We have a basic ability to physically know through our five senses. We see what happens in our vicinity and what is filmed. We hear what others say. We feel changes which occur around us. We taste and smell. We pick up the thoughts (telepathy) and feelings of others (psychically). We connect with the field of all that is (neurologically) and we know intuitively.

      Choosing what we do with this information is another matter.

      Many are familiar with the idea of a "reading" where a person tells a perfect stranger some information about the stranger that may be of interest or helpful to them. The one doing the telling makes choices as to what to tell the one listening. The one listening makes choices as to what questions to ask after hearing what is said and what is to be done. These readings, handled properly, can have life changing results.

      Edgar Cayce [EC], the "Sleeping Prophet" gave over 14,000 recorded readings covering all aspects of life but primarily focusing on people's health. These readings are on how people get where they are presently and what they might do to change. Many are grateful for these readings which are stored and still studied at the Library of the Association for Research and Enlightenment [ARE] in Virginia Beach, VA.

      One possible feature of a reading was the inclusion of other lives a person may have experienced and its possible influence on the current life.

      Such a reading was one given for a newborn, two days after his birth, in June of 1936. This one has lifetimes as Alexander the Great and Thomas Jefferson. In this lifetime, he was called Thomas Jefferson Davis.(1) [TJ]

      It is this writer's opinion that it was good that EC only mentioned a few lifetimes of TJ. EC's intention regarding this reading's contents becoming common knowledge are unknown but these other lives, as well as the special purpose(2) of this child, quickly became well known to the ARE community. The child's actions were closely observed and compared with his other lives. Much was expected. Much was criticized. It was a life in a gold fish bowl.

      The entity TJ had actions in his other lives which he intended to revisit in this life. He did not, however, have the privacy many of us enjoy to focus on them, as much was expected from him. His environment in the ARE community was demanding. It might have been much more relaxed if people had not known his history and his possibilities. Knowing his own possibilities would have been stressful for anyone. Dealing with the expectations of others was more so. And TJ’s mentor, EC, departed this life in 1945.

      Joanne DiMaggio has written an excellent book on TJ's life which was published in 2020(3). It discusses his early years, how well the information in the readings was followed and TJ’s own thoughts on his experiences.

      A new aspect of this entity entered the Earth realm very quietly in 1957 and is still with us. He also had a youth of ups and downs but has become respected as a wise one whose actions benefit his community. One of his prior actions he has been processing is that he killed so many. A main difference between these two aspects of this entity appears to be a more relaxed awareness of his other aspects by those with whom he associates and their expectations. The younger aspect also appears to be aware of many more of his other lives. He has spent time cleaning a temple in India he was responsible for building in another life.

      We affect others by how we react to them. Do we allow others to choose their own path, to make their own mistakes, to create their own triumphs? Do we permit self to do this?

      Another instance of community influence can be seen with EC himself. It was predicted that EC would return in 1998. When a certain aspect showed up in Virginia Beach around this time, similarities to EC were noticed. This person, however, exhibited certain traits that were not considered positive and was not accepted as EC because of this. This may be a good thing. But is this the way enlightened people choose to react? There still seems to be room for growth.

      We have learned much at the ARE. Carol Ann Liaros and Henry Reed began their workshops offering hands on experience with being psychic and intuitive in 1990. Henry went on to write and talk about The Intuitive Heart(4). Heart-brain harmony greatly improves our functioning.(5) Carol Ann has trained us to show others how to use intuition in our daily lives, in our own communities. John Van Auken regularly drops pearls and gems in his talks. Many others have come to the ARE and taken what they have experienced back to benefit their communities. Many more can. 

      Our choice.
